Seminar by Dr. Chunshan Song, Director of the Energy Institute at Penn State, Thursday, August 22

Dr. Chunshan Song, Director of the EMS Energy Institute at the Pennsylvania State University, will discuss control of CO2 emissions, in a talk entitled Design Approaches to CO2 Capture and Conversion for Sustainable Chemicals and Fuels.

Presented by ENGIE/Axium and the Sustainability Institute, the seminar will be held in room E100 of Scott Laboratory (201 West 19th Avenue) from 1:30-2:30 pm on Thursday, August 22.

Dave Cole, CERTAIN Director, elected a Fellow of the Geological Society of America

Professor Dave Cole, Ohio Research Scholar in the School of Earth Sciences, was recently elected a Fellow of the Geological Society of America. The nominating citation reads:

“Professor Cole has been a global leader in geo­chemistry and mineralogy. His work includes seminal studies of subsurface fluid-mineral in­teractions. In addition, he has taken a leadership role in the understanding of carbon in the deep subsurface.”

Seminar by Dr. Stacey Zones, Chevron Research Fellow, Thursday, June 20

Dr. Stacey Zones, a Research Fellow with Chevron's Energy and Technology Company, will discuss synthesis of catalytical materials used by the chemical industry, in a talk entitled Zeolite Materials as Valuable Catalyst Components in Chemical Processes and the Role of Organ-Cations in Shaping Synthesis Outcomes.

Hosted by the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, the seminar will be held in room 130 of the CBEC building (151 West Woodruff Avenue) from noon-1 pm on Thursday, June 20.
